Lovely long poems for older children, but my 4 year old has enjoyed having them read to her as well. All about the animals who live in the village of waybeyond. We have the mouse who is the wonderfull pet of the two spinster mice.  The wayward post office clerks son, to just mention some of the great poems.

If your after a poetry book with a difference, then this is it.

But to be honest I would say all ages!

A book aimed at those who are home educating, but a great resource for anyone who works or lives with those little angels, who need entertaining, and help with living life to the full.

A fantastic author of so many sci fi books.

Science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke has died aged 90 in his adopted home of Sri Lanka, it was confirmed tonight.

Clarke, who had battled debilitating post-polio syndrome since the 1960s and sometimes used a wheelchair, died at 1:30am after suffering breathing problems, his personal secretary Rohan De Silva said.

“Sir Arthur passed away a short while ago at the Apollo Hospital [in Colombo]. He had a cardio-respiratory attack,” he said

 

One of Clarke’s best known work is the short story THE SENTINEL (1951). In the spring of 1964,  started to write a novel about a space travel. . Clarke’s work became the basis of the novel and film 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968), for which Clarke wrote the script with Stanley Kubrick. Clarke continued the Odyssey Saga in three sequels, 2010: ODYSSEY TWO (1982), 2061: ODYSSEY THREE (1988), and 3001: THE FINAL ODYSSEY (1996).

Some small illustrations to show layout of land, and the cottage plot. They do there job well.

This is a lovey easy read. An beautifull often hillarious account of Elizabeth and Alan’s adventures in rural Wales.. Trying to build a garden on a windswept moorland and how normal horticultural rules don’t apply!

A illustrated book, however the illustrations are done by H.R Millar, and show his fine ability to depict scenes in ink line.

Typically I am not fond of the print for Puffin Books, however the type font is compensated for readbility in some ways with the print being slightly larger as this is a childs book.

Fantastic easy read. Just a lovely simple story of children on an adventure with a magical carpet and a phoneix with attitude.
